China’s Policies in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region
Beiji Suonan
Abstract
In recent years, Xinjiang has been witnessed a vigorous Muslim revival and has been the scene of a protracted struggle for greater autonomy and even independence (Starr, Xinjiang, 3). This has drawn attention from all over the world to this region because of the unique dominant culture on this land. The Central Government of China has launched many policies and projects in Xinjiang and provided financial support to people in here in order to boost the economy of this region and improve the material life of local people. The real intention of these movements is to secure this strategically important region from national splittism.
